Late Goal Spoils Men's Soccer at Eastern, 4-3

St. David's, PA (October 12, 2019) - Eastern University broke a tie at three with 2:56 left to play to take home a 4-3 win over the DeSales University men's soccer team in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • The first-half was a high scoring back-and-forth battle featuring six goals.
  • DSU started the scoring as freshman Dimeji Oyinkolade scored just 2:27 into the game on a feed from fellow freshman Sean Murray.
  • EU needed just 2:36 to tie the game at one before the Bulldogs scored two straight to take a 3-1 lead as Oyinkolade and junior Mark Stenske each scored.
  • The Eagles got one back in the 22nd minute and then tied the game at three on an own goal with just 1:09 left in the opening half.
  • The second-half was a defensive battle that seemed headed for OT before Eastern got the game-winner with 2:56 left on re-direction in the box.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Oyinkolade scored twice for his fourth and fifth goals of the season, while Murray assisted on both of his goals.
  • Stenske's marker was his first of the season and senior Keegan Coffield earned an assist on the play.
  • Sophomore Jake Padula made eight saves in the net.
For the Foes
  • Derek Buhrman, Jake Sankey, and Sam Sutherland netted EU's three goals.
  • Matthew Mitchell had an assist and EU's starting keeper, Anthony Hitchock, had three saves.
