Field Hockey Blanks King's, 3-0, for Ninth Straight Win

Center Valley, PA (October 30, 2019) - The DeSales University field hockey team won its ninth straight game blanking King's College, 3-0, in the MAC Freedom regular season finale on Wednesday evening.

  • The Bulldogs are the Co-Regular Season Champions finishing tied atop the MAC Freedom standings with FDU-Florham.  DeSales will be the #2 seed and will host Stevens in the semifinals of the MAC Freedom postseason tournament next week on Wednesday.
How it Happened
  • After a scoreless first quarter, DSU got on the board in the second quarter when freshman Sarah Peterson scored on a blast from the top of the circle at 19:41.
  • It remained a 1-0 game into the fourth quarter when freshman Leah Echard scored unassisted and junior Hannah Williams made it a three-goal game at the 58:08 mark.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Peterson and Echard tallied their fifth goals of the year each, while Williams' tally was her sixth.
  • Senior Madison Brader and freshman Tyra Wingle had assists in the win.
  • Senior Katarina Polyviou made three saves to earn her third shutout of the year.
For the Foes
  • Brianne Maluda had three saves in the loss.
