Women's Soccer Drops 3-1 Decision at Misericordia

Dallas, PA (November 2, 2019) - The DeSales University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision in the MAC Freedom regular season finale at Misericordia University on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Misericordia - 3, DeSales - 1
  • Records: DeSales (13-4-1, 4-2-1 MAC Freedom); Misericordia (10-5-2, 6-1 MAC Freedom)
  • The loss drops the Bulldogs down to the #3 seed in next week's MAC Freedom postseason tournament.
  • DSU will travel right back to Misericordia (#2 seed) for the semifinal matchup on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm.
How it Happened
  • Misericordia was first on the board as Maegan Allspach scored unassisted in the 12th minute.
  • DSU got the tying goal with just three seconds left in the opening half as freshman Allie Trick scored off a corner kick.
  • The Cougars broke the tie at 52:00 when a defensive turnover led to a 1-v-1 with the goalkeeper.
  • Allspach then added the insurance goal in the 81st minute to post the final tally.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Trick's marker was her 11th of the season, leading the team.
  • Freshman Allie Hoff and senior Claire Bassetti each earned assists on the goal scored by Trick.
  • Junior Lia Gaccione made five saves in between the pipes.
For the Foes
  • Allspach scored all three Cougar goals with Jordyn Martini earning an assist on the play.
  • Alexis Benedetto made six saves in goal.
