Women's Lacrosse Rolls Past Manhattanville, 20-5

Center Valley, PA (April 10, 2019) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team rolled past Manhattanville College, 20-5, in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics

How it Happened
  • Manhattanville scored the first goal of the game but DeSales dominated from there scoring the last eight goals of the first half to take an 8-1 halftime lead.
  • The Valiants again started the scoring in the second-half but four straight goals from the Bulldogs pushed the advantage to 12-2 and DSU never looked back from there.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Sophomore Julia Astram led all scorers with five goals and four assists for nine points.
  • Sophomore Katie Stordy once again dominated with six goals and one assist for seven points adding seven draw controls and three caused turnovers.
  • Freshman Azlin Myers added three goals and an assist and sophomore Eilis McCall finished with three goals.
  • Freshman Alexandra Berdej had two goals, freshman Karlie Deeck had one goal, and junior Alyssa Mantzouranis added an assist in the win.
  • Graduate student Annabella Stigliano had three ground balls and three caused turnovers to lead the defense.
  • Sophomore Rachel Sheubrooks made three saves in between the pipes.
For the Foes
  • Lara Keenan led the Valiants with one goal and two assists and seven draw controls.
  • Bella Marchiselli had 11 saves.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales out-shot Manhattanville, 41-13, and had a 19-10 advantage in ground balls.
  • Each team won 12 draw controls and the Bulldogs were 19-for-22 in clears.
  • DSU had just 13 turnovers and forced 24 miscues from the Valiants.
