Men's Lacrosse Moves to 10-0 with 14-5 Win over Misericordia

Dallas, PA (April 3, 2019) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team scored eighth straight goals after falling behind early to win its 10th straight game, 14-5, over Misericordia University in the MAC Freedom season opener on Wednesday evening.

  • The win extends DSU's school-record win streak to 10 games.
  • It is the first time in team history DeSales has won 10+ games in a season.
How it Happened
  • The Cougars scored three of the first four goals to take a 3-1 lead before DeSales took over.
  • DSU scored the next eight goals, holding an 8-3 at the half, and led 9-3 after the first goal of the third quarter.
  • Misericordia got within five twice but the Bulldogs finished the game scoring the final four goals to provide the final margin.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Senior Joe Neggia led the way with five goals and an assist, while junior Justin Monaghan finished with four goals and an assist.
  • Junior Matt Brown added two goals and two assists.
  • Other goal scorers included junior Zach Bowen, freshman Kai Taylor, and junior Eric Magro.
  • Taylor, sophomore Vince Maria, sophomore Colin Corrado, and freshman Timmy Smith all had assists.
  • Corrado won 11-of-17 face-offs and had five ground balls.
  • Junior Frank Krug finished with seven ground balls and two caused turnovers.
  • Senior Matt Barry made eight saves in between the pipes.
For the Foes
  • Patrick Luzzi scored three times.
  • Matt Beck had 17 saves in goal.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales out-shot Misericordia, 53-28, and had a 41-26 edge in ground balls.
