Softball Drops Two on Day One of MAC Freedom Postseason Tournament

Edwardsville, PA (May 3, 2019) - The DeSales University softball team saw its season end dropping two games on day one of the MAC Freedom postseason tournament on Friday at Ralston Athletic Complex.

Game One (L/2-4 vs. Manhattanville)
The Bulldogs dropped the first game of the day to top seed Manhattanville, 4-2.  DSU had the defending champs on the ropes taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning as sophomore Aubree Fritzinger hit a sacrifice fly and senior Leann Panconi had an RBI single.

The Valiants wasted no time responding scoring four times in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 4-2 lead and DeSales was unable to crawl even.

Freshman Heather Hall took the loss allowing three runs over four innings, striking out two.

Junior Erin Redden led DeSales at the plate with three of DSU's six hits.

Game Two (L/1-2 vs. Wilkes)
Trailing 1-0 after the Colonels scored in the bottom of the third inning, DeSales tied the game in the top of the fourth inning as sophomore Sam Napoli knocked in sophomore Ciarrah Holmqvist with an RBI single.

The game remained deadlocked into the bottom of the sixth inning when Wilkes pushed one more run across and the Bulldogs were unable to respond in the top of the seventh.

Freshman Jill Harrison suffered the loss allowing two runs over two innings of relief.

Napoli led DeSales at the plate going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
