West Lawn, PA (May 6, 2019) - The DeSales University baseball team came up a run short looking to force a winner take all championship game vs. Misericordia University in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament on Monday evening.
The Bulldogs season ends with a 23-19 overall record, their 30th straight winning season and the 25th season under head coachÂ
Tim Neiman with 20+ wins.
After a rough start that saw the Cougars score four runs in the bottom of the first inning, DSU showed no quit battling back to take a 5-4 lead thru five innings with two runs in the second inning on RBI doubles from sophomoreÂ
Sean Hanczaryk and sophomoreÂ
Cody Mish. The Bulldogs plated three more runs in the top of the fourth as freshmanÂ
Isaiah Goodman, freshmanÂ
Robby Lamm, and seniorÂ
Preston Amato each had RBI singles.
Misericordia reclaimed the lead (6-5) with two runs in the sixth inning before DeSales tied the ballgame at six with a run in the top of the eighth on another RBI single from Lamm.
MU got the run right back in the bottom half of the eighth. DSU rallied in ninth with two, two-out singles but were unable to get tying run across the plate.

John Poccia took loss the despite pitching wonderfully allowing just two earned runs over 7 1/3 innings pitched on just two days of rest after his start on Friday evening.
Lamm, Hanczaryk, and Goodman all had two hits to lead an 11-hit offensive attack.
