Men's Hoops Hits 14 3's in 76-59 Road Win at King's

Wilkes-Barre, PA (January 11, 2020) - The DeSales University men's basketball team hit 14 3's en route to its sixth straight win, 76-59, over King's College in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

  • The win is the sixth straight for the Bulldogs this season.
How it Happened
  • King's started quickly opening up a 14-9 lead early.
  • The Monarchs continued to lead by three (17-14) when the Bulldogs used a 12-2 run on three straight three-pointers from freshman Jordan Holmqvist to take a 26-19 lead with 8:19 left in the opening half.
  • KC answered with six straight points but DeSales regained its seven-point advantage and led by six (41-35) at the halftime break.
  • DeSales took control to start the second half out-scoring King's 10-2 over the first 3:13, thanks in part by two 3's from junior Mike Bealer.
  • The lead peaked at 19 points twice and never fell below double digits the rest of the way in the road win.

  • Holmqvist led all scorers with 18 points off the bench, hitting 6-of-10 from three-point range.
  • Junior Matt Kachelries added 16 points and finished with seven assists.
  • Senior Alex House had 11 points.
  • Bealer, senior Kweku Dawson-Amoah, and junior Timmy Edwards all had nine points.
For the Foes
  • Josh Bailey finished with 17 points.
  • Brad Kalinowski had 10 as the only two players in double digits.
