Fayatteville, NC (February 15, 2020) - The DeSales University baseball team opened its 2020 season splitting two games on Saturday afternoon falling to Bridgewater College (VA) in the opener before defeating Methodist University in the second game.
Game One (L/1-6 vs. Bridgewater College - VA)
DeSales fell behind 3-0 thru two and a half innings before getting on the board in the bottom of the third on an RBI double from juniorÂ
Sean Hanczaryk. BC added solo runs in the fourth, fifth, and eighth and the Bulldogs were unable to threaten the plate the rest of the game.

Robby Lamm scored DSU's lone run. SophomoreÂ
Will Manley took the loss allowing two earned over 2 1/3 innings.
Game Two (W/6-3 vs. Methodist University)
Methodist scored twice in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead and after DSU tied the game in the top of the third inning on an RBI single from seniorÂ
Sergio Diaz and a Methodist error, MC reclaimed the lead with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
Lamm tied the game at 3 with a solo home run in the top of the fifth and the Bulldogs took the lead for good in the eighth with two runs on RBIs from Hanczaryk and sophomoreÂ

Cody Mish knocked in the sixth run in the top of the ninth inning.

John Poccia settled in after allowing two first inning runs to toss eight strong frames allowing just eight hits and striking out five to earn the win. SophomoreÂ
Zac Vittorelli earned a save with a perfect ninth inning striking out two.
The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow when they take on Arcadia University.
