Men's Basketball Finishes Regular Season with 76-68 Win at Delaware Valley

Doylestown, PA (February 22, 2020) - The DeSales University men's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 76-68 win at Delaware Valley University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 76, Delaware Valley - 68
  • Records: DeSales (17-8, 10-4 MAC Freedom); Delaware Valley (6-18, 2-12 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs finish the regular season as the #3 seed in the upcoming MAC Freedom postseason tournament and will travel to Eastern University for the semifinals on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm.
How it Happened
  • DeSales led 6-5 early before Delaware Valley scored five straight points to take a 10-6 lead and led the rest of the way in the first-half taking a one-point advantage (38-37) into the halftime locker room.
  • Senior Tracy Simsick hit a three-pointer to start the second-half giving DSU its second lead of the game (40-38) and the Bulldogs never trailed the rest of the way.
  • DeSales scored the first nine points of the second-half on that Simsick trey and two more triples from sophomore Dat Lambert, holding the Aggies scoreless over the first 4:15 of the second stanza.
  • The lead grew to nine points as the game went back-and-forth before the Bulldogs extended the advantage to as many as 12 points late before the final tally was posted.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Junior Timmy Edwards once again led the charge with 20 points, adding five rebounds.
  • Lambert finished with 12 points off the bench and sophomore Keba Mitchell also reached double figures with 11 points off the pine.
  • Senior Ben Pratt handed out eight assists.
For the Foes
  • Jordan Tucker finished with 20 points and eight boards.
  • Damian Washington added 16 points and nine rebounds and Mike Cianciulli finished with 19 points.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs torched the second-half nets shooting 58.3 percent from the field and finishing the game 27-for-54 (50 percent).
  • DSU's bench out-scored the Aggies, 37-6.
  • DSU was an efficient 8-for-19 from downtown.
