Women's Lacrosse Starts 2-0 with 13-12 Win at Susquehanna

Selinsgrove, PA (February 22, 2020) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team has started 2-0 for the first time in team history after a 13-12 win over Susquehanna University on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs fell behind early trailing 4-1 and 6-2 before finishing the first-half with five straight goals to take a 7-6 lead into the halftime locker room.
  • The River Hawks regained the lead with the first two goals of the second-half as the two teams traded back-to-back goals four times with DSU taking an 11-10 lead at the 15:31 mark.
  • SU tied the game at 11 before junior Eilis McCall and sophomore Amanda Schultz scored back-to-back to give DSU a 13-11 lead with 6:44 left and the Bulldogs hung from there.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • McCall finished with three goals and an assist to lead the scoring attack.
  • Freshman Marina Bradley, sophomore Azlin Myers, and junior Julia Astram each scored two goals and added two assists in the win.
  • Junior Kayla Kearns had two goals, while Schultz and freshman Tori Brennan finished with one goal and one assist each.
  • Junior Rachel Sheubrooks made 16 saves, recording the 300th of her career in goal.
  • Myers and Brennan each had five draw controls.
For the Foes
  • Gabi Toohey finished with six goals and Caroline Chase had one goal and six assists.
  • Stephanie Dowling added three goals and one assist.
