Men's Lacrosse Wins Third Straight, 12-6, at Gwynedd-Mercy

Gwynedd Valley, PA (February 29, 2020) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team earned its third straight win scoring eight of the first nine goals of the game never looked back from there in a 12-6 win over Gwynedd-Mercy University on Saturday afternoon.

  • Senior Frank Krug recorded seven more caused turnovers inching closer to the NCAA Division III All-Time record which sets at 221...he now has 216 career caused turnovers.
How it Happened
  • After each team scored a goal over the first 5:07 of the game, DSU broke the game open scoring seven straight goals to take an 8-1 lead and led 8-2 heading into halftime.
  • GMU made a little run at the lead scoring the first two of the third quarter and two more in a row early in the fourth quarter to get win four twice but the Bulldogs scored back-to-back goals within 25 seconds of each other late in the fourth to ice the win.
Top Bulldog Perfomers
  • Sophomore Tom Connors was outstanding on offense scoring four goals and adding two assists for six points.
  • Junior Zach Bowen had three goals and senior Justin Monaghan had three assists in the win.
  • Senior Matt Brown finished with one goal and one assist.
  • Sophomore Kai Taylor, junior Matt Motto, freshman Beau Neff, and senior Eric Magro each scored once.
  • Krug was once again a force in the middle forcing seven turnovers and picking up four ground balls.
  • Junior Colin Corrado returned from injury and won 14-of-21 face-offs and had eight ground balls.
  • Senior Vincent Groelly had six saves.
For the Foes
  • Jacob Dzierzgowski had three goals and Derek Alcavage totaled two goals in the loss.
  • Chase McFeeley had 14 saves in between the pipes.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales out-shot Gwynedd, 39-23, and had a slim 25-24 advantage in ground balls.
  • DSU won 14-of-21 face-offs and were nearly perfect in clears going 18-for-20.
  • The Bulldogs scored three man-up goals.
