Center Valley, PA (October 30, 2021) - Junior Tyra Wingle scored with 16 seconds left lifting the DeSales University field hockey team past Alvernia University, 2-1, in the final game of the season in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • Alvernia got on the board first scoring mid-way thru the second quarter on a tipped ball in front of the keeper after a centering pass.
  • Junior Catie McGrath tied the game at one, scoring on a rebound of her own shot that hit off the post.
  • The game seemed destined for OT before Wingle took a pass in front of the keeper and swept it inside the near post with 16.6 seconds left giving the Bulldogs the lead and the win.

  • Wingle finishes the season with a team-high 13 goals, while McGrath netted her fifth.
  • Sophomore Maddie Trocki had an assist, her fifth of the year, on Wingle's tally.
  • Sophomore Kayla Yeatman played well in the cage, making seven saves.

  • Gianna DeGregory had AU's goal, assisted by Madison Potthoff.
  • Lexi Boettcher made six saves in goal.
