Volleyball Stays Unbeaten in MAC Freedom; Sweeps King's 3-0

Center Valley, PA (October 6, 2021) - The DeSales University volleyball team continued to stay undefeated in MAC Freedom play taking down King's College, 3-0, in Billera Hall on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 3, King's - 0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-17)
  • Records: DeSales (11-6, 4-0 MAC Freedom); KING'S (13-2, 2-2 MAC Freedom)
  • DeSales has owned the season series between the two teams notching its 17th straight win over the Monarchs to improve to 33-10 all-time.
  • Head coach Michele Zabinski is now just one win shy of earning win #300 in her career.
How it Happened
  • DeSales started slow falling behind 6-0 with three hitting errors in the first six points of the first set before rallying to tie the match and never looked back totaling 17 kills and just two errors after those first six points to take set one, 25-22.
  • The second set saw the Bulldogs trailing 16-15 late before four straight points, including two kills from junior Caroline Garretson gave DSU a 19-16 lead and they cruised from there.
  • The third set saw DSU dominate the net with a solo block and 19 kills and a .400 hitting percentage to close out the match.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Garretson finished with 14 kills and hit .579 for the match.
  • Sophomore Shannon McDevitt had 13 kills and three blocks, hitting .265.
  • First-year Mykenah Calder had nine kills and 15 digs and hit .562 for the match.
  • Sophomore Grace Grandinetti had 24 assists and nine digs and senior Audrey Wolfe totaled 16 helpers and had four kills.
  • Junior McKenzie Brady finished with 14 digs.
For the Foes
  • Danielle Kitchner led the Monarchs with seven kills and four blocks.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs hit .322 as a team as compared to just .101 for King's.
  • King's had seven service aces and did not commit a service error.

  • DSU is off this weekend and returns to action next Tuesday traveling to Lycoming College for another MAC Freedom match set to begin at 7:00 pm.
