Hoboken, NJ (December 8, 2021) - The #25 DeSales University men's basketball team held Stevens to just 28.6 percent shooting and the bench scored 38 points leading the Bulldogs past the Ducks, 64-44, in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.
The Basics

- The win snaps a two-game losing streak in the series with the Ducks and improves DeSales to 4-3 all-time vs. Stevens.
- The Bulldogs are now 9-0 for the first time since the 2008-09 season equaling the start that season. A win on Saturday vs. Misericordia would be the best-ever start to a season and the first time DeSales was ever 10-0.
How it Happened
- Stevens was the aggressor early on in this one taking an 11-3 lead thru the first three minutes.
- The DeSales bench turned things around with an 11-0 run to take a 14-11 lead led by seven points from senior Mike Bealer.
- The rest of the half went back-and-forth and saw the Bulldogs score the final eight points to take a 28-24 lead into the locker room.
- DSU put this one away early in the second half with a 13-1 spurt early, holding Stevens to just one field goal over the first eight minutes taking a 43-27 lead and never looked back from there with the lead peaking at 23 points.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Incredibly no one scored double digits for the Bulldogs who got contributions from everyone with 13 different players reaching the scoring column.
- Senior Dat Lambert had a team-high points, while junior Will Bowen and senior Matt Kachelries each had eight tallies.
- Sophomore Christian Guldin pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds, while junior Keba Mitchell had nine caroms and added three steals.
- Kachelries added six helpers and sophomore Mason Barnes stuffed the stat sheet with six points, five assists, and five steals.
For the Foes
- Conor Coffey had 10 points and was the only double digit scorer in the game for either team.
- Alec DiPietrantonio had 11 boards.

- DeSales forced Stevens into 28.6 percent shooting from the field and just 4-for-22 from deep.
- DSU scored 38 of its 64 points in the paint and the bench out-scored the Ducks' bench, 38-14.
