Center Valley, PA (April 20, 2021) - The DeSales University men's tennis team handed Wilkes University its first loss of the season, staying unbeaten, in a 6-3 win over the Colonels in MAC Freedom action on Tuesday afternoon.
The win is DSU's first over the powerhouse Colonels since 2002, a span of 13 matches.
Doubles
DeSales fell behind 2-1 after doubles play as seniorÂ
Danny Lynn and sophomoreÂ
Thomas Blomquist earned an 8-3 win at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Singles
The Bulldogs nearly swept all six singles matches to take the match. Lynn dropped a hard-fought three setter at the No. 1 spot, but everyone else earned a win to win five of six singles matches.
FreshmanÂ
Philip Ritchie was a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 winner in the No. 2 flight, freshmanÂ
Augie Citrone was a 6-2, 6-0 winner in the No. 3 position, and sophomoreÂ
Mark Sherrill earned a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 4 spot.
JuniorsÂ
Brahm Buoy andÂ
Nolan Beck finished off the Colonels with a 2-6, 7-6 (7-5) win by default for Buoy in the No. 5 spot and Beck won 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 spot.
