Glenside, PA (May 1, 2021) - The DeSales University softball team dropped both ends of the MAC Freedom postseason tournament quarterfinals at Arcadia University dropping game one, 1-0, and game two 9-0.
Game One (L/0-1)
The opener was an old fashioned pitcher's duel that saw the Knights use two bunt singles and a walk to load the bases before a two-out single thru the right side scored the eventual game-winning run in game one in the bottom of the sixth inning.
DSU put a runner on third base in the first inning and had a runner in scoring position in the fourth inning but were unable to get the big hit.
JuniorÂ
Heather Hall was oustanding in the circle, striking out four and allowing just five hits. The Bulldogs had just two hits in the opener.
Game Two (L/0-9)
DeSales needed a win in game two to force game three on Sunday but Arcadia quickly tried to thwart that idea scoring five times in the first inning of game two and finished off the Bulldogs with three runs in the fourth inning.
DSU had six hits in game two, including two by seniorÂ
Hallie Muffley who finished her career with 98 career hits. SophomoreÂ
Victoria Agnoli also had two hits.
Hall took the loss allowing two runs in just 1/3 of an inning. JuniorÂ
Kelsey Miller pitched well in the loss allowing just one earned run over three innings pitched.
The Bulldogs finish the season with a 10-16 overall record.
