Field Hockey Wins Second Straight, 4-1, over Juniata

Center Valley, PA (September 18, 2021) - The DeSales University field hockey team earned its second straight win, 4-1, over Juniata College in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

  • The Bulldogs earn their first-ever win over the Eagles in four career meetings.
How it Happened
  • After a scoreless first quarter DSU got on the board 2:25 into the second quarter when junior Ashlee Jopp scored on a shot just inside the circle off a pass on a corner from sophomore Abbe Tarczynski.
  • Junior Grace DeThomas made it a 2-0 lead at 19:14 scoring on a penalty stroke to give DSU a 2-0 halftime lead.
  • Sophomore Maddie Trocki scored her sixth goal of the year 7:18 into the third quarter taking a pass from junior Allie Ball inside the box.
  • Juniata got on the board early in the fourth quarter but the Bulldogs got that goal back when Ball scored off a rebound at 49:39.

  • Ball had one goal and one assist in the win as the Bulldogs got goals from four different players.
  • Junior Gianna Duddy made two saves in the win.
For the Foes
  • Sydney Witter had JU's lone goal.
  • Brittney McMullen and Nicole Piccioni combined to make seven saves.

  • The Bulldogs controlled possession and play out-shooting Juniata, 16-3.
