Women's Soccer Furious Second-Half Not Enough in 2-1 Loss to Salisbury

Center Valley, PA (September 25, 2021) - The DeSales University women's soccer team saw a furious second-half comeback fall just short in its first loss of the season snapping a seven-game win streak, 2-1, to Salisbury University in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.


The Basics
  • Final Score: Salisbury - 2, DeSales - 1
  • Records: Salisbury (4-4-1); DeSales (7 -1)
  • This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
How it Happened
  • The first-half saw a sluggish effort from the Bulldogs that saw the Seagulls score two goals on just four shots to take a 2-0 halftime lead.
  • DSU came out with a ton of energy after the halftime talk and took it to Salisbury, out-shooting SU, 14-2 in the second-half and dominating possession.
  • DeSales got on the scoreboard at the 62:59 mark when senior Natalie Dorsheimer scored her first goal of the season on a beautiful touch past a charging keeper following a nice feed from junior Meghan Foley.
  • The Bulldogs had several other big chances that narrowly missed as time ran out on the comeback and DSU's seven-game win streak.

  • The goal was Dorsheimer's first of the year and it was Foley's third assist.
  • Sophomore Hannah Pacheco had two saves in goal.
For the Foes
  • Salisbury's goals were scored by Autumn Dougherty and Gracie Checkan.
  • Emma Hill was brilliant in goal making 11 saves.
