Second-Half PK Upends Men's Soccer at Drew, 3-2

Madison, NJ (September 29, 2021) - The DeSales University men's soccer team saw its three-game win streak come to an end in a 3-2 loss at Drew University in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Drew - 3, DeSales - 2
  • Records: Drew (3-4-1); DeSales (4-5)
  • This was the 20th career meeting between these former MAC Freedom rivals with Drew increasing its advantage to 16-3-1 with the win.
How it Happened
  • The two teams traded goals in the first-half with each team scoring twice.
  • After Drew took a 1-0 lead, junior Dimeji Oyinkolade scored on his second PK attempt in less than a minute after his first hit the crossbar and went high.
  • The Rangers re-claimed the lead but the Bulldogs tied it back up at two with a goal from junior Caden Sundermann on a free kick that was tapped to him just five yards in front of the goal by sophomore Eric Clouse.
  • The game-winner came just 3:51 into the second-half when another PK was called and Drew cashed in as the Bulldogs were unable to find the tying goal for the third time.

  • Oyinkolade netted his eighth goal and Sundermann's was the first in his DeSales career.
  • Senior Nathan Hatzfeld had five saves in goal.

  • Kevin Kiernan had two of Drew's three goals.
