Women's Soccer Earns First-Ever Road Win at Muhlenberg, 3-0

Allentown, PA (September 4, 2021) - For the first time in team history the DeSales University women's soccer team traveled to local rival Muhlenberg College and left with a win blanking the Mules 3-0 on Saturday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 3, Muhlenberg - 0
  • Records: DeSales (2-0 overall); Muhlenberg (0-1 overall)
  • The win moves the all-time series record to 3-4-1 overall as DSU earns its first-ever road win between the two teams.
How it Happened
  • DSU took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when sophomore Kerrigan de Meij scored her first career goal tapping in a fumbled shot from junior Meghan Foley that the Mule keeper lost control after Foley's shot.
  • The lead remained one into the 75th minute when the Bulldogs got its insurance goal as juniorAllie Trick took a centering pass in the box from senior Vanessa Atie, turned around a defender and fired a shot past the GK into the left corner.
  • Senior Meghan Corbran provided the exclamation point as de Meij played a ball to the endline, Trick beat a defender to the ball and fired a centering pass to the center of the box where Corbran streaked thru to hit a one-timer into the net.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • The goals for de Meij, Trick, and Corbran were the first of the year for each player.
  • de Meij and Trick added assists to their goals and Foley and Atie also earned assists in the win.
  • Sophomores Hannah Pacheco and Jozlyn Minnema combined once again for the shutout making a total of five saves.
For the Foes
  • Sara Pecorelli had seven saves in the loss.
Inside the Box Score
  • DSU finished with a 21-10 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
