Win Streak Snapped at Seven in 2-1 Loss to Haverford

Center Valley, PA (October 17, 2022) - The DeSales University field hockey team saw its seven-game win streak come to an end in a 2-1 loss to Haverford College in non-conference action on Monday evening.

  • Records: DeSales (11-3 overall), Haverford (6-7 overall)
  • DSU falls to 1-2 all-time vs. the Fords in the first-ever meeting at DeSales.
How it Happened
  • Haverford scored on the first shot of the game just 1:29 into the contest on a direct shot off a corner feed and that score stood into the half and thru three quarters.
  • DeSales appeared to have tied the game with about seven minutes left in the fourth quarter but the goal was disallowed.
  • Shortly after that goal was disallowed, first-year Nikki Chiaradia did tie it tapping home a pass from senior Sarah Peterson off a corner feed.
  • The Fords had the answer though scoring just 2:34 later to reclaim the lead and the Bulldogs were unable to get a second goal.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • The goal was Chiaradia's third of the year.
  • Junior Kayla Yeatman made three saves in this one and senior Grace DeThomas had a defensive save.
For the Foes
  • Delaney Snowden and Naomi York scored for the Fords.
  • Mary Smith made seven saves in goal.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales had a 16-6 advantage in shots and a slim 8-6 edge in shots on goal.
  • DSU also out-cornered the Fords, 12-6.
