Center Valley, PA (October 22, 2022) - The DeSales University volleyball team dropped both matches on day two of its home quad falling to both Drew University and Rowan University in three sets on Saturday in Billera Hall.
Match #1 (L/0-3 vs. Drew - 21-25, 28-30, 11-25)
DeSales led 12-10 early before five straight points from Drew gave the visitors a 15-12 lead. DSU climbed within two points a few times the rest of the way but was unable to come all the way back.
In the second set there was 10 ties and four lead changes. DeSales had control midway thru the set leading 16-11 and by three late (22-19) before Drew scored four straight points to take a 23-22 lead. The Bulldogs fought off set points at 24-23 and 25-24 before getting one of their own at 26-25. Tied at 28, the Rangers won two straight to take the set and rode that momentum into the third set with a convincing 25-11 win to close out the match.

Abby Weise had 11 kills and 10 digs. SeniorÂ
Austen Brewer added seven kills and seniorÂ
McKenzie Brady finished with 18 digs in the loss.
Match #2 (L/0-3 vs. Rowan - 22-25. 21-25, 23-25)
This match was back and forth the entire way featuring a total of 27 ties and 11 lead changes over the three sets.
DSU lead early in all three sets including a 10-6 lead in the first set, a 5-2 lead in the second set, and a 20-13 lead in the third set but was unable to hold onto any of the leads as Rowan dominated the final points of each set to sweep the match.
Weise and Brewer each had 10 kills with Brewer hitting .400 for the match and adding 10 digs.
Brady finished with 11 digs and three aces, first-yearÂ
Peyton Porterfield had 15 assists, and juniorÂ
Grace Grandinetti added 10 assists and 10 digs in the loss.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday when they play host to Lycoming College in MAC Freedom action set to begin at 7:00 pm.
