Trick Treats Women's Soccer to 5-1 Quarterfinal Win over FDU-Florham

Center Valley, PA (October 31, 2022) - Senior Allie Trick scored two goals and added an assist treating the DeSales University women's soccer team to a 5-1 win over FDU-Florham in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament quarterfinals on Monday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 5, FDU-Florham - 1
  • Records: DeSales (12-5-2 overall); FDU-Florham (15-5-1 overall)
  • The win is DSU's ninth straight over the Devils and improves their all-time record vs. FDU-Florham to 11-13-3.
  • DeSales is making its 11th appearance in the MAC Freedom postseason and the win is the Bulldogs fifth all-time.
  • They advance to the MAC Freedom semifinals where they will take on top seeded Misericordia University at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening.
How it Happened
  • DeSales dominated play on Monday scoring three times in the span of 5:44 in the first-half to take a 3-0 lead and never really looked back.
  • Trick started the scoring racing to a long pass over the top in the 13th minute.
  • Senior Katie Padgett scored just 2:19 later beating a charging GK to a pass ahead and Trick made it 3-0 just 3:25 after Padgett's goal scoring on a perfect centering pass from Padgett.
  • The Bulldogs added two more goals in the second-half before the Devils got a PK with just under four minutes left to get on the board.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Trick's goals were her sixth and seventh of the season, while Padgett scored her fourth and added an assist.
  • Junior Holly McFarland and first-year Makayla Issakhani both scored in the second-half.
  • Senior Sam Monteforte, senior Meghan Foley, and junior Kerrigan de Meij had assists in addition to Trick and Padgett.
For the Foes
  • Lauren Byrne scored the Devils lone goal on a PK.
  • Erica Blackburn made eight saves.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales had a 22-5 advantage in shots and a 13-1 edge in shots on goal.
  • DSU hit the post four times in the win and out-cornered the Devils, 6-5.
