Women's Soccer Falls to FDU-Florham in ECAC Championship

Madison, NJ (November 13, 2022) - The DeSales University women's soccer dropped a 3-2 decision at FDU-Florham in the ECAC Championship game on Sunday afternoon in a matchup of MAC Freedom rivals.

The Basics
  • Final Score: FDU-Florham - 3, DeSales - 2
  • Records: DeSales (13-7-2 overall); FDU-Florham (17-5-1 overall)
  • The Bulldogs had won nine straight over the Devils dating back to the 2014 season and already had beaten FDU twice this season by a combined score of 7-1. DeSales is now 11-14-3 all-time vs. the Devils.
  • It was DSU's third appearance in the ECAC Tournament and its first appearance on the ECAC title game.
  • The Bulldogs finish the season with a 13-7-2 overall record.
How it Happened
  • DeSales scored the first goal of the game as junior Kerrigan de Meij blasted home a loose ball in the box.
  • FDU tied the game with a goal in the 18th minute and took a 2-1 halftime lead with a goal in the 33rd minute.
  • Senior Cassidy Klein tied the game at two just over five minutes into the second-half once again on a loose ball in the box off a corner kick that just trickled inside the back post.
  • The Devils got the game-winner in the 82nd minute on a ball passed ahead to a streaking Mia Lopez who beat the Bulldogs keeper 1-v-1.

  • It was de Meij's seventh goal of the year and Klein's second.
  • Junior Hannah Pacheo made six saves in between the pipes.
For the Foes
  • Mia Lopez scored the game-winner and Ashley Dietrich had two goals in the win.
