Hoboken, NJ (March 20, 2022) - Senior
Will Manley pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings of relief helping the DeSales University baseball team earn a DH split at Stevens in MAC Freedom action on Sunday afternoon.
Game One (W/5-4 - 12 Innings)
DSU held a 3-2 lead early after an RBI single from senior
Billy Scanlon and two-RBI single from first-year
Patrick Kusters. Scanlon gave DSU a 4-3 lead in the fifth hitting a solo home run but the Ducks tied the game at four in the bottom of the sixth as the two teams headed to extra innings.
Manley was nearly unhittable in the extra frames pitching 5 1/3 allowing just one hit and striking out five to keep the Bulldogs in the game.
In the top of the 12th, DSU finally broke thru taking advantage of three walks and two hit batters in the inning to plate a run and Manley did the rest to earn his second win of the year.
Kusters and Scanlon each had three hits and two RBIs in the game one win.
Game Two (L/5-11)
DeSales rode the game one momentum to an early 4-0 lead with four runs in the top of the first inning on a two-RBI single from senior
Dillon Drew. Stevens had the answer however scoring four times in the second and three more times in the third to take a 7-5 lead and added four in the fourth to lead 11-5 and the Bulldogs were unable to recover.
First-year
Ian Malone suffered the loss in relief allowing three runs in 1/3 of an inning.
DSU had just two hits in game two coming from Scanlon and Drew.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday when they host Swarthmore College beginning at 4:00 pm.
