Ashland, VA (March 4, 2022) - The DeSales University men's basketball team saw its season come to an end after an 80-67 loss to Babson College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament on Friday evening at Crenshaw Gymnasium on the campus of Randolph-Macon College.
The Basics

- This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
- DSU was making its sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament, all under head coach Scott Coval.
How it Happened
- The first-half was all about senior Timmy Edwards as he single-handedly kept DeSales close scoring 23 of DSU's 30 points by himself, including the 1,000th of his career to become the 29th player in team history with 1,000 career points.
- DSU took a 12-11 lead at the 14:06 mark when junior Jordan Holmqvist hit a three and the Bulldogs continued to lead by two (26-24) at the 4:32 mark after another bucket from Edwards.
- Babson out-scored DeSales, 9-4, over the final 4:32 to take a 33-30 lead into the locker room.
- Babson scored the first nine points of the second-half handing DSU's its largest deficit of the game to that point (42-30) before sophomore Elijah Eberly had a three-point play to end the drought.
- The lead stayed double digits over the next several minutes before DSU scored six straight points late to get within six (56-50) at the 7:30 mark after a three from sophomore Mason Barnes and a three-point play from Edwards.
- Babson pushed the lead back to 12 points with just under five to play and the Bulldogs never got any closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Edwards was outstanding in the final game of his career shooting 15-for-26 from the field and added 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the year.
- Barnes also had a strong game off the bench with eight points and eight assists.
- Holmqvist had seven points off the bench.
For the Foes
- Kieran Dorney finished with 19 points and eight rebounds for Babson.
- Colin Bradanese had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
- Nate Amado totaled 16 points and seven rebounds.
- Andrew Kirkpatrick had 13 points.
Inside the Box Score
- Babson shot 53.6 percent from the field, while the Bulldogs hit just 39.7 percent.
- DSU was 6-for-22 (22.2 percent) from outside the arc.
