Medford, MA (March 5, 2022) - The DeSales University women's basketball team saw its 21-game winning streak come to an end falling at Tufts University, 58-47, in the second round of the NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament on Saturday evening.

- This was DeSales' 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its 13th under head coach Fred Richter as the Bulldogs fall to 8-15 all-time in the tournament.
- It was the second career meeting with Tufts with the Jumbos taking both contests.
- DeSales win streak is snapped at 21-straight, one shy of tying the all-time record.
How it Happened
- DeSales weathered the early storm despite going down 7-2 early to tie the game at 10 on a three from senior Averi Jordan and remained tied after one quarter at 14.
- Tufts scored the first seven points of the second quarter but the Bulldogs responded getting within three several times before trailing by five points (32-27) at the halftime break.
- Both teams made runs in the third quarter as the Jumbos went up nine and the Bulldogs countered getting within three once more before still trailing by five (45-40) after three quarters of play.
- A free throw from junior Maria Newsome made it a four-point game early in the fourth quarter before TU scored four straight points to go up eight points and DeSales got within six once more before Tufts took an 11-point lead and held off any Bulldog rallies the rest of the way.

- Sophomore Mikaela Reese finished with a team-high 17 points and added three blocks.
- Jordan finished with her career 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
- Newsome added eight points.
For the Foes
- Maggie Russell finished with a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds.
- Molly Ryan added 14 points.
Inside the Box Score
- The Bulldogs shot just 34 percent from the field but also held the Jumbos to just 34.4 percent shooting.
- Tufts dominated the glass out-rebounding DeSales, 47-30, and had 20 offensive rebounds leading to 11 second-chance points.
