Attack Explodes in Record Breaking 26-11 Men's Lacrosse Win over Lycoming

Center Valley, PA (April 20, 2022) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team broke the team record for goals in a game scoring 26 in the 26-11 win over Lycoming College in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 26, Lycoming - 11
  • Records: DeSales (7-5, 3-2 MAC Freedom); Lycoming (7-8, 3-3 MAC Freedom)
  • It is DSU's second straight win over the Warriors moving the all-time series record vs. LC to 2-15.
  • The Bulldogs broke the previous record of 25 goals in a game set last season vs. Albright College.
How it Happened
  • This was a close game early as DeSales scored the first three goals of the game before Lycoming tallied four straight to take a 4-3 lead.
  • The game was tied at nine late in the second quarter when the Bulldogs closed the half with four goals over the final 3:02 to take a 13-9 lead into the halftime locker room.
  • The run continued in the third quarter as DSU scored the first five goals and eight of the first nine to take a 21-10 lead and never looked back from there.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • In addition to the scoring records first-year Anthony Gash won the second most face-offs in a game in team history with 26 wins on 35 attempts and added 15 ground balls.
  • Senior Zach Bowen led all scorers with two goals and four assists.
  • Junior Domenic Maria (4g, 1a), graduate student Jalen Holmes (4g, 1a), sophomore Pat Schuett (4g, 1a), and sophomore TJ Herron (2g, 3a) all have five points in the win.
  • Seven other players scored in the win including first-year Jake Fratarcangeli and senior Sean Wiser with two goals each.
  • First-year Eric Goliaszewski had five caused turnovers and sophomore Quinten Lyons had eight saves in goal.
For the Foes
  • Rory Hines had three goals to lead the Warriors.
  • Troy Scozzafava added a goal and three assists.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales out-shot Lycoming, 50-27, and dominated the ground balls with a 59-24 advantage.
  • DSU won 27-of-39 face-offs and was 22-for-25 on the clear.
  • Both teams scored three man-up goals and had 23 turnovers.
