Center Valley, PA (April 24, 2022) - The DeSales University softball team earned a split with Stevens falling 3-0 in game one before earning a 5-4 win in game two in MAC Freedom action on Sunday afternoon at McGettigan Park.
The Bulldogs are currently 5-7 in the MAC Freedom heading into the final week of the regular season with doubleheaders against FDU-Florham and Lycoming College scheduled. DSU controls its own destiny needing just four wins this week to clinch a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason.
Game One (L/0-3)
Stevens scored twice in the first inning and added another run in the fifth inning to take game one as the Bulldogs mustered just three hits to drop the opener.
SeniorÂ
Heather Hall suffered the loss allowing two earned over seven innings, striking out four.
Game Two (W/5-4)
DSU got off to a quick start in this one scoring four times in the first inning on an RBI single from juniorÂ
Olivia Ondrejca and a two-RBI single from juniorÂ
Chloe Pauls.
The Ducks fought all the way back to tie the game at four in the top of the fifth inning but the Bulldogs answered with a run in the bottom half of the fifth to take a 5-4 lead and blanked the Ducks over the final two innings to take the game two win.
JuniorÂ
Kayleigh Ferraro went 3-for-3 and had an RBI double plating the game-winning run. Ondrejca added two hits.
First-yearÂ
Tabitha Lawless earned the win tossing 4 2/3 innings of outstanding relief allowing just one run and three hits, striking out two to improve to 4-1 on the season.
DSU is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to take on local rival Moravian University.
