Center Valley, PA (September 14, 2022) - Junior Larry Agyei scored with 4.8 seconds left giving the DeSales University men's soccer team a thrilling 2-1 win over local rival Muhlenberg College on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics

• Final Score: DeSales - 2, Muhlenberg - 1
• Records: DeSales (2-2-1); Muhlenberg (2-3)
• The win moves DeSales to 5-20-4 all-time vs. the Mules.

How it Happened

• The Bulldogs got the scoring started in the 21st minute when junior Elek McDonald stole a ball deep in the box and slotted a pass back to fellow junior Eric Clouse who scored into the open net with the Mules keeper out of position.
• That lead stood into the half as neither team was able to get on the board the rest of the half.
• Just over five minutes into the second-half Muhlenberg found the tying goal scoring on the rebound of a blocked shot.
• The game seemed destined to end in a tie as Muhlenberg had possession deep in their defensive end as the clock wound down past 15 seconds left.
• However a Mule defender misplayed a ball that sophomore Tristen Castellani took control of as he raced into the box 1-v-1 with the keeper and under 10 seconds left.
• Instead of shooting the ball he slotted a pass to Agyei on the back post who was alone with a wide open net and he scored setting off a wild celebration with the Bulldogs bench.

Top Bulldog Performers

• It was Agyei's first goal of the season and Clouse netted his second.
• Senior Nathan Hatzfeld made three saves in goal.

For the Foes

• The Mules goal came from Noah Pietila and was assisted by Taylan Akdag.

Inside the Box Score

• Muhlenberg had a 19-8 advantage in shots, but the Bulldogs had more shots on goal (5-4).
• The Mules had a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
