Washington, D.C. (September 24, 2022) - The DeSales University volleyball split for the second straight day at the Worthington Classic at Gallaudet University falling to Salisbury in the morning before defeating Elmira College in the second game of the day.
Match #1 (L/0-3 vs. Salisbury)
DSU hung tough in the opening set with the Seagulls, falling 25-21, before SU earned a straight set win with 25-16 and 25-18 wins over the final two sets.
First-yearÂ
Abby Weise led the charge with 10 kills, while seniorÂ
Diane Pugay added nine kills.
SeniorÂ
McKenzie Brady had 21 digs and juniorÂ
Grace Grandinetti finished with 20 assists.
Match #2 (W/3-0 vs. Elmira)
DeSales blew past Elmira in the first and third sets by a score of 25-10 and won the middle set, 25-22, to win in straight sets.
Weise once again led the attack with nine kills, hitting .353 and adding 10 digs and five aces. Brady finished with eight digs and six aces in the win.
Senior
Austen Brewer had six kills and hit .600, while juniorÂ
Shannon McDevitt also had six kills and two blocks.
First-yearÂ
Peyton Porterfield finished with 19 assists.
Weise was recogniced for her play this weekend being named to the All-Tournament team.
The Bulldogs are back at it on Tuesday when they host Delaware Valley University beginning at 7:00 pm in MAC Freedom action.
