Montclair, NJ (September 7, 2022) - The DeSales University field hockey team improved to a perfect 3-0 on the season with a 3-0 shutout win over Montclair State University in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics

• Final Score: DeSales - 3, Montclair State - 0
• Records: DeSales (3-0 overall), Montclair St. (0-3 overall)
• It was just the second career meeting between the two teams after the first coming in 2018 as the series is evened up at one win each.

How it Happened

• With just 14 seconds left in the first quarter senior Catie McGrath gave DSU a 1-0 lead with a bullet past the Red Hawks keeper inside the far post.
• That lead grew to two mid-way thru the second quarter when first-year Jordyne Stong got her first career goal.
• Senior Tyra Wingle made it a three goal game 3:13 into the second-half scoring on the back post for her third tally of the season and the defense did the rest blanking the Red Hawks on 13 shots.

Top Bulldog Performers

• McGrath and Stong each scored for the first time this season, while Wingle tallied her third and the 27th of her career, just two shy of fifth place all-time.
• Sophomore Maddie Trocki and Stong also had assists.
• Sophomore Kayla Yeatman made seven saves to earn her first shutout of the season.
• Sophomore Miranda Szymborski had a defensive save late in the game.

For the Foes

• Lauren Pickul made 10 saves for Montclair State.
