Volleyball Rallies for 3-2 Win over Local Rival Moravian

Bethlehem, PA (September 7, 2022) - The DeSales University volleyball team gave up late leads in each of the first two sets to fall behind 2-0 but rallied to win the last three sets earning a 3-2 win at local rival Moravian University in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

  • DeSales has now won six in a row and 11 of the last 12 matches in the season series to improve to 22-25 all-time vs. the Greyhounds.
How it Happened
  • DSU led 18-15 in the first set before Moravian four straight points to take a 19-18 lead and three straight later tied at 21 to steal the first set.
  • The Bulldogs were in control in the second set as well taking a 5-0 lead and led 18-14 before the Greyhounds won eight straight points to lead 22-18 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
  • DeSales dominated set three from start to finish, winning 25-15.
  • The start of the set was back and forth as the two teams were tied at 17 before the Bulldogs won six straight and fought off a late rally to win 25-22 and force a fifth set.
  • Tied at six in the fifth set, DSU got two straight points to lead 8-6 and never trailed the rest of the way winning four of the last five points to close out a 15-10 comeback win.

  • Jenna Deegan led both teams with 21 kills and hit .347 for the match.
  • Gabby Mancini had 25 digs.
  • Natalia Matos finished with 35 assists and 26 digs.
