#9 DeSales Stays Unbeaten in 68-43 Road Win at Delaware Valley

Doylestown, PA (January 11, 2023) - The #9 DeSales University women's basketball team continued its unbeaten season with a 68-43 win at Delaware Valley University in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 68, Delaware Valley - 43
  • Records: DeSales (14-0, 6-0 MAC Freedom); Delaware Valley (8-7, 4-2 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs have won 47 straight MAC Freedom games including the postseason.
  • This is the 14th straight win for DeSales in the series with the Aggies improving its all-time record to 58-15.
  • It is the first 14-0 start to the season since the 2002-03 season when DeSales opened the year 14-0 overall and is one win shy of tying the best-ever start to a season (15-0) during the 1989-90 season.
How it Happened
  • It was a close game early as DeSales clung to a 9-8 lead before scoring the next 16 points over the end of the first quarter and start of the second quarter to take a 25-8 lead.
  • The Bulldogs increased that lead to as many as 21 points in the first-half before settling for a 34-15 advantage at the break.
  • DSU never looked back in the second-half scoring 21 points in the third quarter extending its lead before the final tally was posted.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Junior Mikaela Reese recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds, adding four blocks.
  • Junior Lindsey Welsh had a team-high 13 points and senior Megan Bealer added 10 points and six steals.
  • Junior Amelia Saunders poured in 11 points off the bench and fellow junior Olivia Scotti had a game-high 11 rebounds off the bench.
  • Junior Grace Kelleher played well of the bench handing out four assists and adding six steals.
For the Foes
  • Haley Keenan led the Aggies with a game-high 19 points.
  • Malsie Neuber pulled down 10 rebounds.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales shot 37.7 percent for the game and held the Aggies to just 30.9 percent from the field.
  • DSU forced 31 Aggie turnovers and scored 33 points off those miscues.
  • The Bulldogs had a 52-26 advantage in points in the paint.
