Big Second-Half Lifts Men's Basketball Past Hamilton, 72-62

Center Valley, PA (December 29, 2023) - The DeSales University men's basketball out-scored Hamilton College 43-32 in the second-half leading to a 72-62 win over the Continentals on day one of the Al Senavitis Memorial Tournament in Billera Hall on Friday evening. 

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 72, Hamilton - 62
  • Records: DeSales (8-2); Hamilton (4-6)
  • Today's game marked the first-ever meeting between the two teams. 
How it Happened
  • Hamilton took the early lead in this one scoring nine of the first 15 points the game after five minutes of play.
  • DSU countered with a 12-2 run to claim a 18-11 lead, with 12:10 left in the first-half.
  • The continentals finished the half outscoring the Bulldogs 19-11, which included a late 5-0 run in the final two minutes of the half to take a 30-29 lead into the break.
  • To open up the second-half both teams went back and forth as there were eight lead changes within the first five minutes out of the intermission, as Hamilton held a 39-38 lead with 15:15 left to play. 
  • DSU ignited their comeback with a quick 10-4 run, which gave the Bulldogs a 48-43 lead with 11 minutes left to go.
  • The Bulldogs did not look back from there as they expanded their lead to as much as 10 to post the final tally, 
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Senior Elijah Eberly led all scorers with 16 points and added four boards and three assists, along with a block.
  • Senior Jordan Holmqvist scored 13 points and tallied three assists to go along with hitting two three's in the win.
  • Senior Ryan Boylan scored 10 points off the bench and had five rebounds.
For the Foes
  • Hank Morgan led Hamilton with 23 points and had six rebounds with two assists.
  • Teja Singh scored 12 points and had four boards.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs bench out-scored Hamilton's, 41-16.
  • DSU dominated the glass, out-rebounding Hamilton, 36-26
  • The Bulldogs shot 50 percent from the field while holding the Continentals to 41 percent.
