Center Valley, PA (April 19, 2023) - The DeSales University baseball team totaled 15 hits and scored a season-high 20 runs in a 20-15 win over local rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at Weiland Park.
The two teams combined for 31 hits and 35 runs as each team had a seven run inning as the Bulldogs earned its fourth straight win over the Mules and improve to 21-12-1 all-time vs. its local rival.
After MC took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, DSU scored three times in the bottom half of the second and added seven runs in the third to take a 10-2 lead. SophomoreÂ
Justin DeStaso had a two-RBI triple in the second and seniorÂ
Joe Grigas IVÂ had a two-run double in the third.
The Bulldogs added three more runs in the fifth to claim a 13-5 lead and led 17-8 after a three-run seventh inning.
Muhlenberg didn't go away scoring seven times in the eighth to pull within 17-15 before DeSales got a two-RBI triple from first-yearÂ
Joey Vaccaro in the eighth to push the lead back to five (20-15).

Michael Pierce earned the win in relief pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief and sophomoreÂ
Mike Romano picked up his fourth save of the year with three K's in 1 1/3 innings.

Carson Allison had two hits, juniorÂ
Travis Kerr was 3-for-5 with four RBIs, and Grigas had two hits in the win.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday when they open up a three-game weekend set vs. Delaware Valley beginning at 3:30 pm.
