Comeback Falls Just Short in Women's Lacrosse 13-12 Loss at FDU-Florham

Madison, NJ (April 19, 2023) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team saw a late comeback fall one goal short in a 13-12 loss at FDU-Florham in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

  • Records: DeSales (4-10, 1-4 MAC Freedom); FDU-Florham (7-7, 5-1 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs fall to 0-7 all-time vs. the Devils, nearly pulling off their first ever win over FDU-Florham.
How it Happened
  • This game was close the entire way as FDU-Florham took a 4-3 lead with a goal with one second left in the first quarter before the Bulldogs returned the favor at the end of the second quarter when senior Dani Towey scored with four seconds left to give the Bulldogs a 7-6 lead at the half.
  • After trading goals twice to start the third quarter the Devils scored four straight goals to end the third quarter with a 12-9 lead.
  • Both teams scored early in the fourth quarter before DSU got back-to-back goals to get within one goal (13-12) with just over 11 minutes left in the game.
  • DSU had several chances to tie the game, the best of which came with about two minutes on a free position shot but were just unable to find the game tying goal as the Devils held on for the one goal win.

  • Jenna Ranney had three goals and two assists.
  • Alexis Ashton scored four goals.
