Center Valley, PA (April 27, 2023) - The DeSales University softball team stayed in the hunt for a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason splitting a MAC Freedom doubleheader with first place Misericordia University on Thursday evening at McGettigan Park.
DeSales now sits tied in fifth place with Arcadia University at 8-8 and needs some help from Wilkes University to earn a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason. If the Colonels can sweep Stevens in its doubleheader the Bulldogs will earn a spot among the top five.
Game One (L/0-8)
Misericordia jumped all over the Bulldogs in game one scoring four runs in the top of the first innin and finished off an eight run win with a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
DSU had just three hits in the game one loss and juniorÂ
Alanna Hartzell took the loss allowing four runs in her one inning of work.
Game Two (W/8-6)

Kylie Bryant gave DSU a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run, Misericordia tied the game with a run in the top of the second inning.
The Bulldogs erupted for six runs in the bottom of the second as sophomoreÂ
Madison Kelly had an RBI single, sophomoreÂ
Tori Kenney had an RBI single, Bryant had an RBI double, and seniorÂ
Victoria Agnoli knocked in three runs with a bases clearing double.
DSU led 8-3 into the sixth inning when the Cougars got three runs but sophomoreÂ
Rachel Lowry did the rest earning her 13th win of the season with a complete-game effort, striking out four.
Agnoli earned her 100th career hit in the bottom of the sixth inning in her final at-bat legging out an infield single to shortstop. Bryant finished with two hits, scoring twice, and knocking in three runs. Kenney also had two hits and sophomoreÂ
Abigail Rodriguez posted two hits.
