Paige Lewis and junior
Samantha Worontzoff combined for 23 kills and hit .489 leading the DeSales University volleyball team past King's College, 3-0, in the MAC Freedom opener for both teams on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.
The Bulldogs started slowly as the first set featured 12 ties and seven lead changes but saw DSU pull away with the match tied at 17 on four straight points including two kills from Lewis for a 25-19 first set win.
DeSales dominated the second set, never trailing, en route to a 25-12 win, hitting .258 as a team in the set.
King's led early in the third set and had a three-point advantage (14-11) before the Bulldogs scored 11 of the next 13 points including two more kills from Lewis and Worontzoff scored the last two points on kills to close out the match.
Worontzoff had 13 kills and hit .480 adding three blocks, while Lewis had 10 kills and hit .500 with one block.
Senior
Delanie Zohler finished with nine kills and hit .240, adding nine digs.
Senior
Emma Notarfrancesco had 21 digs and four aces. Senior
Grace Grandinetti had 23 assists and seven digs.
The Bulldogs have won 19 straight matches against the Monarchs and improve their all-time mark vs. King's to 35-10.
DSU is back in action this weekend competing at the Gallaudet Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
