Center Valley, PA (October 18, 2024) - The DeSales University volleyball team fell to Swarthmore College, 3-0, in non-conference action on Friday evening in Billera Hall.
The Bulldogs had an early 4-3 lead in the opening set before the Garnet scored four straight points to retake the lead. Swarthmore dominated the rest of the set outscoring the Bulldogs 18-11 to close out the first set win.
The second set was tight tied at 14 before the Bulldogs scored three straight points to take a 17-14 lead. The Garnet responded with five straight points of their own to take the lead at 18-17. Both teams traded points as the lead stood at 19-18 before the Bulldogs had an another answer of three straight points to retake the lead at 21-19. Swarthmore however had the final say as they scored six straight points to steal the second set.
The third set was tight as well as the Bulldogs held 7-2 and 11-8 leads but Swarthmore had constant answers as they would have a 17-15 lead midway through the set. The Bulldogs would have a late push to make it a 24-23 game but the Garnet provided the final tally for the three-set win.

Allison Reimer each had eight kills to lead the offense. First-year
Bryanna Purisima had 15 assists, first-year
Kylie Campbell added 13 digs, and Reimer finished with nine digs in the loss.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Franklin and Marshall College for a non-conference match beginning at 1:00 pm.
