Women's Basketball Runs Past PSU-Berks 78-32 in Season Opener

Gwynedd-Valley, PA (November 8, 2024) - The DeSales University women's basketball team opened up the 2024-25 season with a 78-32 win over PSU-Berks in the opening game of the Gwynedd-Mercy University Tip-Off Tournament on Friday evening.

  • Tied at two early, DeSales scored 15 straight points to open up a 17-2 lead and led by 10 (17-7) at the end of the first quarter.
  • Both teams struggled to score in the second quarter as the Bulldogs slowly increased its lead, taking a 30-13 advantage into the halftime locker room.
  • DeSales cruised in the second-half outscoring the Nittany Lions by seven in the third quarter and blew the game wide open with a 31 point 4th quarter to open the season with a win.

  • Senior Morgan Sterner led the way with a game-high 15 points, adding nine rebounds.
  • First-year Marissa LaVerghetta also reached double digits with 12 points, all coming in the second-half.
  • Junior Sammi White finished with seven points and seven boards and junior Mikaili Donmoyer also had seven points in the win.

  • Three players scored five points to lead the Nittany Lions.
