Caleb Gibbs and
Devin Atkinson combined for 44 points leading the DeSales University men's basketball team to a 94-68 win over Baruch College in the season opener on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

How it Happened
- Baruch scored the first five points of the game before DeSales settled in with an 9-0 run capped off by a fast break dunk from first-year Jayden Thomas to take an 11-7 lead.
- The lead remained four at the 11:47 mark before eight straight points, including a four-point play from senior Matt Ciszkowski, made it 28-16 Bulldogs at the 9:44 mark.
- The lead was 15 at the 7:15 mark when the Bearcats caught fire finishing the half out-scoring the Bulldogs, 19-8, to get within four points (47-43) at the half.
- DSU took control early in the second-half using a 19-6 run that gave the Bulldogs a 71-54 advantage at the 10:17 mark.
- Thomas ignited the run with back-to-back 3's and scored eight points during the spurt, while junior Ryan Glassmacher had a three-point play and Gibbs had four points.
- The lead never fell below 14 points and peaked at 26 in the 94-68 final.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Gibbs and Atkinson both tossed in career-highs in the win as Gibbs led all scorers with 25 points and added seven rebounds.
- Atkinson finished with 19 points.
- Thomas tallied 19 points in his first career game and pulled down six rebounds and had three steals.
- Ciszkowski had eight points and Glassmacher and first-year Luke Keppel each had seven points off the bench.
- Junior Brendan Boyle finished with five assists.
For the Foes
- Dylan Minnick led four players in double digits with 17 points.
- Gerard Nicholson had 16, Jack Gordon finished with 12, and Brandon Goldberg totaled 10.
Inside the Box Score
- DeSales shot 52.4 percent for the game and was a very efficient 20-for-24 (83.3 percent) from the charity stripe.
- DSU had a terrific defensive second-half allowing just 25 points and holding the Bearcats to just 29.0 percent shooting over the final 20 minutes.
- The Bulldogs dominated the glass out-rebounding Baruch, 45-24.
