Men's Soccer Falls at Stevens, 2-1, in MAC Freedom Championship

Hoboken, NJ (November 9, 2024) - The DeSales University men's soccer team fell just short falling at Stevens, 2-1, in the MAC Freedom Championship game on Saturday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Stevens - 2, DeSales - 1
  • Records: DeSales (12-5-3 overall); Stevens (11-3-4 overall)
  • It is just the second loss for the Bulldogs in the MAC Freedom Championship game in seven career appearances.
  • The Bulldogs are now 1-5 all-time vs. the Ducks.
How it Happened
  • Stevens got on the board first in the 12th minute on a blast from Adam Berrocal.
  • The Bulldogs needed just 1:45 to tie the score as junior Liam MacDonald scored on a header flick in the box on a free kick feed from first-year Peter Cardinale and that score stood into halftime.
  • The Ducks got what proved to be the game-winner just 6:32 into the second-half when a header off a free kick from Terry Thompson caromed off the far post and just went over the line as the Bulldogs keeper grabbed it giving the Ducks a 2-1 lead and ultimately the win.

  • The goal for MacDonald was his 13th of the season.
  • First-year Jimmy Shensky made eight saves in goal.

  • Berrocal and Thompson scored the Ducks goals.
  • Ben Goldberg and Berrocal each had assists.
