Ewing, NJ (February 27, 2024) - The DeSales University softball team scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to open the 2024 season with a 6-1 win at The College of New Jersey on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs were scheduled to play two games but the second game was cancelled in the top of the fourth inning in a scoreless tie because of rain and is unlikely to be made up.
In game one, TCNJ took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on an unearned run.
Senior 
Victoria Agnoli started the sixth inning rally with a single and sophomore 
Morgan Benner reached on a fielder's choice when the second baseman threw the ball into LF trying to get Agnoli at second base.
Senior 
Kayleigh Ferraro singled home Agnoli tying the score at one and junior 
Tori Kenney made it a 2-1 game on an RBI single to left field.
After a strike out and a line out, DSU added four more runs on an RBI single from first-year 
Paige Hromin, bases loaded walk by junior 
Abigail Rodriguez, and two-RBI single from Agnoli.
Junior 
Rachel Lowry did the rest allowing just one base runner over the final two innings to finish off a complete-game allowing just four hits and striking out seven.
The Bulldogs are back in action next week when they travel on spring break to Florida.
