Victoria Agnoli broke the all-time record for stolen bases leading the DeSales University softball team to a DH split with Wilkes University in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.
Game One (W/7-0)
DSU took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI double from senior
Alexys Vernier and RBI single from senior
Kayleigh Ferraro.
The lead remained two into the fifth inning when the Bulldogs exploded for five runs thanks in part to a three-run home run from junior
Tori Kenney.
Lowry did the rest limiting the Colonels to just three hits, striking out four, to earn her 13th win of the season.
Sophomore
Morgan Benner had two hits and scored twice. Agnoli had two hits and stole two bases and Vernier finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Game Two (L/3-5)
The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in this one, scoring once in the first when Agnoli tied the all-time record with her 48th career stolen base and scored on a sacrifice fly from Vernier. She scored again in the third after a single and an error from the leftfielder after another single from Vernier.
Wilkes took a 4-2 lead with four runs in the fourth and led 5-2 after five innings and DeSales was unable to come all the way back.
Agnoli finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and broke the all-time record for stolen bases with her 49th swipe in the fifth inning. She breaks a record that had stood since 1995. Vernier had two more hits in game two.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday hosting Eastern University in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 5:00 pm.
