Golf Takes Second at MAC Freedom Championships; Saglimbeni Wins Golfer of the Year

New Tripoli, PA (April 28, 2024) - The DeSales University golf team turned its best-ever performance at the MAC Freedom Championships with a second place finish and two-day 36 hole score of 627 on Saturday and Sunday at Olde Homestead Golf Course.

The Bulldogs take second for the third time in team history, turning in the best 36 hole score in program history by 34 shots with a 627, just nine strokes behind Stevens.

Junior Andrew Saglimbeni also made history becoming the first Bulldog to win MAC Freedom Golfer of the Year honors winning the MAC Freedom Individual title with a two-day total of 147, following up a day one round of 73, with a 74 on Sunday, six shots more than fellow Bulldog, senior Luke Hallman who placed second individually.

Saglimbeni ran away with the individual title making five birdies in his round on Sunday to take home first place and earn All-MAC Freedom First-Team honors.

Hallman was equally as good two straight days shooting 79 to also take home All-MAC Freedom First-Team honors with a second place finish. He had two birdies and nine pars on his round Sunday.

Rounding out DSU's top four on Sunday were sophomore Jimmy Kelly with a Sunday round of 78 to finish T-13th overall and first-year David Nelson with an 86, placing T-26th overall.

Senior Christian Guldin finished with an 87 on Sunday to tie for 20th place overall.
