Annville, PA (May 4, 2024) - The DeSales University softball team saw its MAC Freedom Championship run come to an end falling to top seeded Lebanon Valley College, 1-0, on Saturday morning.
The Bulldogs (28-14) will now play the waiting game to see if they get into the NCAA Tournament hoping for a Pool "C" big which is announced on Monday, May 13th. DeSales entered this week ranked #4 in the NCAA Region IV Regional rankings.
This one was a pitcher's duel from the very beginning. DeSales didn't have a base runner till the fourth inning. DSU put runners on first and second with two outs in the fifth but were unable to score and had its largest threat in the top of the seventh inning after a leadoff double from first-yearÂ
Paige Hromin doubled to start the frame. First-yearÂ
Kiara Castera bunted Hromin to third with one out but the Bulldogs were unable to push her home.
LVC had runners on second and third with one out in the second and sixth innings but were held scoreless each time. In the seventh, the Flying Dutchmen had a leadoff double. DSU got the next two outs to keep the runner at second but Megan Heard hit an RBI single up the middle with two outs to score the game-winning run.
SeniorÂ
