Women's Soccer Settles for 1-1 Tie on Late River Hawks Goal

Center Valley, PA (September 14, 2024) - The DeSales University women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 tie with Susquehanna University on a late goal by the River Hawks in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Susquehanna- 1, DeSales - 1
  • Records: DeSales (2-3-1 overall); Susquehanna (3-2-1 overall)
  • The draw moves the Bulldogs to 0-2-1 all-time vs. the River Hawks. 
How it Happened
  • After a scoreless first half, DSU took a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute when senior Emma Ribeiro took the ball away from a River Hawk defender and beat the keeper top shelf to put the Bulldogs on front.
  • Susquehanna tied the game in the 77th minute on long pass to the 16 by Maesie Baker which found Kalie Quaglia for the goal. 
  • Neither team were able to score in the remaining 13 minutes as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Ribeiro scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season. 
  • First-year student Saige Santa Cruz made two saves in goal. 
For the Foes
  • Quaglia had the goal for the River Hawks.
  • Baker tallied the assist. 
  • Katie Henchy had four saves in goal.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs dominated the shot chart with a 15-9 advantage in shots and 5-3 edge in shots on goal.
  • DeSales had an edge in corner kicks, 8-2.
