Wilkes-Barre, PA (January 15, 2025) - The DeSales University women's basketball team shot just 27.3 percent falling at King's College, 54-50, in overtime in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.
The Basics

- The loss snaps an eight game win streak in the series wih the Monarchs. DSU is now 50-29 all-time vs. Kings.
- It also snaps a 28-game win streak in games against MAC Freedom competition.
How it Happened
- DeSales scored the first five points of the game and after back-to-back 3's from first-year Alexis Berger, DSU led 11-3 eight minutes into the game.
- The lead grew to as many as nine points (20-11) in the second quarter before the Bulldogs settled for a six-point lead at the halftime break.
- DSU started the second-half ice cold, going scoreless over the first 3:16 to fall behind for the first time in the game (26-24).
- A lay-up from junior Mikaili Donmoyer broke the cold streak and started a 13-2 run to end the quarter as the Bulldogs regained its nine point lead (37-28) thru three quarters of play.
- DeSales once again struggled to score however, going without a point for the first 3:44 of the quarter and without a basket till the 1:06 mark on a basket from Donmoyer that pulled DSU within two points (42-40).
- DSU got a stop and had a chance to tie but threw the ball away and was forced to foul.
- King's made just 1-of-2 freebies and Donmoyer made it a one-point game with another bucket in the lane with 14 seconds left.
- The Monarchs once again made just 1-of-2 from the line and Donmoyer tied the game with three seconds left forcing overtime.
- DeSales scored the first three points of the overtime period before King's rallied to take a one-point lead (48-47) with 1:29 left.
- Donmoyer hit a clutch three-pointer on the next possession to put the Bulldogs up two (50-48), but King's answered with a bucket to tie the game at 50 with 38 seconds left.
- Out of a timeout the Bulldogs got a good look on a three-pointer in the corner but it fell short.
- King's called timeout and on the ensuing inbounds play, DeSales committed a foul and the Monarchs knocked down both free throws and a three from Donmoyer was off the mark as King's iced the win from the line.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Donmoyer led the scoring with 14 points, adding four assists and three steals.
- First-year Aubrey Pollard recorded her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds off the bench.
- First-year Alexis Berger also had double digits with 11 points.
For the Foes
- King's got a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds from Cadie Lewis.
- Lauren Casey also had a DD with 12 points and 12 boards, adding five blocked shots in the win.
Inside the Box Score
- DeSales finished the game shooting just 27.3 percent from the field and 20.0 percent (5-for-25) from outside the arc.
- The Bulldogs did force 24 Monarch turnovers leading to 18 points.
